CNBC Pro screened for global stocks that have received price target upgrades from five or more analysts in the past seven days and have a potential upside of over 25%. MacroGenics Investment banks raised their price target for the biopharmaceutical firm MacroGenics this week, giving the stock upside potential of 83% over the next 12 months. Tuerkcan — one of the most cautious analysts on the stock — has a price target of $22, pointing to upside of 22% for the stock.

Wall Street returned to its winning ways this week — and Nvidia 's blowout earnings report Wednesday night was a big reason why. Twenty-six of our 32 portfolio stocks have delivered their results this earnings season (we didn't own Abbott Labs at the time of its report). It was a muted week for macroeconomic data, but we did get a slightly better-than-expected January existing home sales report on Thursday. In the week ahead, two more Club names are set to report earnings before a market-moving economic update arrives Thursday morning. The two other reports of note are the January new home sales report on Monday and ISM Manufacturing report on Friday.

Some stocks on Wall Street that are attractively valued could come with a steep catch, according to Wolfe Research. With stocks starting to fall, investors may begin to think some names are a good value when they are not. Wolfe screened for potential value traps in a note Thursday. Earnings came in 40 cents ahead of the 44 cents expected by analysts polled by Refinitiv. Revenue was $1.79 billion, versus the $1.77 billion expected. Gap's revenue was $3.55 billion, below the $3.57 billion expected. Earnings per share came in at 33 cents for its second quarter, versus the 32 cents expected, according to Refinitiv.

Goldman Sachs highlighted a slew of stocks on its U.S. "conviction list — director's cut" selection, naming several "most differentiated buy recommendations," in an August 1 research note. Goldman's "directors' cut" is a list of stocks chosen by its U.S. research analysts and managers. The bank collated a list of "top ideas that offer a combination of conviction, a differentiated view and high risk-adjusted returns," before shortlisting 20 to 25 names. Industrial names on the bank's "directors' cut" list included several that Goldman said are benefiting from post-pandemic demand, such as building services firm Johnson Controls and waste disposal company Republic Services . Goldman's note also included a "What has worked" heading, under which its analysts named three stocks.

Stocks with "reasonably valued" growth are becoming harder to find — given the increasing overlap between high-growth and expensive stocks, according to Goldman Sachs. First screen The first focused on stocks with growth at a reasonable price. SolarEdge Technologies : Investors can also look for strong growth from favorable geographic and end-market exposure. "Its refreshed, modern restaurant POS [point of sale] platform and new verticals should drive market share growth," Goldman analysts wrote. "We believe margins will remain in focus through 2023 and into 2024," Goldman said.

The Wall Street bank's Conviction List comprises its top buy-rated stocks that it expects to outperform. Goldman gave Baidu's U.S.-listed shares a 12-month price target of $197, and its Hong Kong-listed shares a price target of 193 Hong Kong dollars. Logitech — Shares tumbled 12.3% after the company announced president and CEO Bracken Darrell is departing. Toyota — The Japan-based automaker's shares gained 4.5% Wednesday. Lumen Technologies — The telecommunications stock gained 6% during midday trading Wednesday, adding to the 16% advance that was made Tuesday. Earlier in the week, the company announced a new partnership with electric vehicle software charging company ev.energy. Advanced Micro Devices — The chip stock gained nearly 2% in midday trading, a day after the company announced its latest artificial intelligence chips.

Shift4 Payments is poised to have a very good year, according to Goldman Sachs. Analyst Will Nance upgraded Shift4 Payments to buy from neutral, calling it a top 2023 payments pick with more than 20% upside. "While we acknowledge the macro risks and expect mgmt to take a balanced approach to guidance, we see this, combined with improving FCF conversion as providing significant amounts of cushion for FOUR in 2023," Nance added. Shift4 public debut on the New York Stock Exchange took place June 2020, when shares were listed at an offering price of $23. Now, however, the stock could see more than 20% upside to the analyst's target price of $67.
